Sweet Heart Earrings ~ Pay it Forward February

{Have you ever heard about a situation and it just breaks your heart and you feel like you HAVE TO do something about it?A few months back I met a lady, Lovely Reckley, and she told me how she goes to four different schools in Abaco and feeds 85+ children that would have otherwise had no lunch. For some of these kids, this is the only meal of the day.Lovely even takes food to some of them when school is out.That really broke my heart. I mean, I know there are kids all over the world that are starving, but when I realized there were children right under my nose it killed me. I kept wondering what I could do. I thought about offering to help cook, but cooking for so many mouths really overwhelmed me. Then I realized what a COMMITMENT this awesome woman had made to these children.....EVERYDAY!!!At Christmas, instead of giving gifts I gave a donation to her organization (and to our Humane Society) instead of buying things that people really didn't need.But it kept tugging at my heart. So, I decided for the month of February I would post several heart themed items to my blog. They would be for sale, and I would give 25% of the cost of the item to Lovely, to help with her costs.I may post an item everyday or I may post several items a week.....I am really not sure, but 25% will go to "Feed the Children" in Abaco, Bahamas.I CANNOT imagine going without food, or only having one meal a day that I had to rely on someone else to bring to me, and these children shouldn't have to deal with this either, so please help!}

Happy Friday!
I am starting to feel a little more human today after this spell of laryngitis. Still coughing and feeling fatigued, but my voice is slowly coming back!
Today's item for Feed the Children Abaco are these Sweet Heart Earrings.

Textured fine silver discs with a heart cut-out, have whimsical glass fuchsia headpin dangles.  The ear wires are made from fine silver also, and the earrings hang about an inch and a quarter from the ear wires.

You can find these earrings in my Etsy shop....{HERE}.
Or you can go to my Bahama Dawn Facebook page and leave me a message....{HERE}.
They are $40, and 25% goes to Feed the Children Abaco.

Hello!
I was M.I.A. yesterday because I decided to go to the doctor to find out that I have laryngitis!! Today is day 4 with no voice. Very frustrating, and my furry children are fully taking advantage of me! Doc says I should feel better by the weekend or early next week........*sigh*
Today I am listing my Guard Your Heart Journal that I showed you a few weeks ago in this post.

I made this for my show and was so very proud of this. Can you believe it was the only journal cover that did not sell? So I am putting it out there one last time. If there are no takers this time then it is meant to be mine :)

This journal cover fits a Mead Composition Book, so it can be reused over and over and is machine washable.

It is a sewn collage of cotton fabrics, burlap and buttons.
Full of texture!

This journal cover is $45, and 25% of that will go to Feed the Children Abaco.
You can find it in my Etsy store......HERE.
Or you can message me on my Bahama Dawn Facebook page....HERE.

Another quick post today for my heart item, since I am still suffering with a throat infection. I am feeling a bit better but my voice doesn't want to seem to come back.
Today's item is a set of Patchwork Heart Potholders.

The piecing is not exact since they were randomly pieced.
They are both 9 inches square, and have a hanger on the back.
The backs are Bahama Hand Prints, which is a locally made, screen printed fabric.

And dont worry about that white fabric.....they are totally machine washable.

They are $28 for the set, and 25% of that goes to Feed the Children Abaco.
They are listed in my Etsy shop HERE.
{this set of potholders has been sold :) THANK YOU!!!}

Have a great week!

The ear wires are fine silver.

Copper Component Blog Hop

Happy Saturday everyone!
I am participating in Kristi Bowman's Copper Component Blog Hop Challenge. I was so excited to be a part of this because I love the focals Kristi makes from copper clay.
When I received my Sea Urchin focal I held it up to my glass rods to see which colors I should make beads from to go with it.
The pink and green jumped out at me.
I just love the opalescence of this focal. It reminds me of some real shells from the ocean.

I made one pretty huge mistake.......can you see it?
I made my headpins on fine silver wire instead of copper. I am so accustomed to using silver and copper in my work and I always make my headpins on silver.
Hope it is not too obvious. I just may have to change those.

I made a variety of pink, green and clear beads to enhance the focal.
I also added a layer of copper chain to hang next to the row of glass beads.

I wanted the beads to be pretty and stand on their without taking away from the focal and compliment the focal at the same time.
Those beads had a lot of work to do!!

This was a fun challenge!

Please be sure to go and check out what the other participants made. They are listed below. You wont be disappointed! Have a great weekend!

I hope you love these earrings as much as I do!! This is the very first pair of stud earrings that I have ever made!

They are about a half of an inch wide. Very sweet and simple.

I made them from Precious Metal Clay. I rolled out the clay, textured it, cut out the shape and then sent it to the kiln for firing. The hearts and the ear studs are fine silver. The backs are sterling silver.

You can find them in my Etsy shop......HERE. {sorry, these have been sold since I wrote the post}
They are $28, and 25% of that will go to Feed the Children Abaco.

Thank you & have a great weekend!

Good Morning!
My heart item for today is this Brave Heart Pendant.

It is made from copper, fine silver and one of my glass headpins.

The copper heart I cut out of sheet copper, stamped, filed and textured it.
The silver tear drop is made from PMC3, which when kiln fired turns into fine silver.

I finished it off with one of my glass headpins. Connecting them all together with fine silver wire.

This pendant is $48, the chain is sold separately.
If you are outside of the Bahamas, you will be able to purchase it from my Etsy store, HERE!
25% goes to help "Feed the Children in Abaco".
Thanks for stopping by!
Go out into the world with a brave heart today!
